Today we’re talking about one of my fave subjects – spring fashion! If you’ve been craving color during this long winter, it’s finally time to start reintroducing some brighter hues into your wardrobe. I’ve always been drawn to soft, feminine colors and pretty details like lace and embroidery, so spring fashion is right up my alley. But there’s so many ways you can wear spring shades to fit with your style. Personally, I love modern silhouettes and form fitting looks, so the dresses below are all on my wishlist.
Lace. Lace dresses can easily border on old fashion or overly formal, and spring is all about being casual yet sophisticated. I think lace looks gorgeous as an overlay, like in the pencil dresses above. You can always add interest by going for a high collar or cutout design – they modernize any lacy look.
Floral. Who doesn’t own a floral dress or two for spring? This style is one that comes back year after year, so it’s easy to feel like your florals need a refresh. Wrap dresses and the boho look is in (no surprise there!) so if you’re more of a free-spirit you might want to opt for a flowing dress like the wrap crepe dress above. But you can go slightly more formal and even pull off bright florals at the office or a dinner party with the other two styles.
Solids. Lastly, this time of year you don’t see nearly as many solid colored dresses. We’re out with the blacks and reds of the last season, and eager to wear prints. But dusty pastels and light neutrals are perfect for longer days and sunny afternoons.
Whether you’re going to a baby or bridal shower, wedding, spring dinners or Easter brunch this year – these dresses have you covered! Share your fave with me below.
Hope you guys all had an amazing Christmas and holiday season. Can you believe we’re already coming up on our last holiday of the year?! If you’re planning to host a party or go out this New Years Eve, you’re probably using this week to decide on what to wear. See my handy guide below to choose an ensemble that’s just as exciting as this last hurrah.
Try a jumpsuit. Can’t find the perfect dress for New Years Eve? Enter jumpsuits! If you’ve been wanting to step outside your comfort zone, this is your last chance to do so in 2016 (no pressure…) – and New Years Eve is the perfect time to test the waters when it comes to style. Everyone will be donning something just as bold, so choosing something a little more daring than your typical going out look will fit right in. The trick to pulling off a jumpsuit? Fit. It has to fit perfectly. This is one outfit it will be totally worth having a tailor put the finishing touches on.
Reimagine sequins. Loved wearing sequins for my E! holiday segment, and it made me realize just how many ways there are to pull it off. From a full-on sequin covered jacket to a pop of sparkle on your collar or bodice, you can really go as subtle or as bold as you want to when it comes rocking them.
Add a pop of color. Although all-over black is a chic look for NYE, some of us crave color. Red is an obvious go-to (that dress and coat at the end of my slideshow would be fabulous ways to turn heads) but you can also opt for greens, purples, blues, or even gold too. If black isn’t your thing, don’t be afraid to flaunt the colors of the season for this holiday too.
Which look is your fave? This is the outfit you’ll be ringing in the new year with – wherever you are, make sure it’s fun!
Ever since our perfect night out (ah, Napa), I’ve been dreaming of another peaceful night on the town. When you’re working 12 hour days and coming home to two active little ones, those few hours away are not taken for granted… Believe me! Most of the time I like to keep things cozy and natural when I’m not working, but I love to get all dolled up on date nights… Who doesn’t? That was the inspiration for combing through all these styles and coming across a few romantic must-have dresses.
Styles I’m loving…
Flirty. Valentine’s Day is really just about love, friendship and fun. It’s really just about celebrating those you love to spend time with – there shouldn’t be so much pressure. A flirty dress can work for anyone regardless of whether they’re going on a first date, a date with the hubby or a group outing with friends. Isn’t the cape look such an unexpected style for a little red dress?
Girly. Ladies who love floral, rejoice. Spring styles are on their way. A floral print is always a classic choice for something like Valentine’s Day, and my favorite thing about them is the romantic colors. But ultra feminine styles aren’t ALL flowers – a casual tulle maxi skirt paired with a slight crop top is romantic without being over the top. Perfect for brunch with girl friends too!
Modern. And for those with a sultrier side? I say keep it simple with a solid color like black, white or red and focus on fabulous details like sheath overlays and unique necklines. Had to throw an all white jumpsuit in there too if you really want a head turner. Love.
When it comes to accessorizing, I love my mommy necklace (I now have one that includes both Aden and Ariah and I never take it off!) and a cute pair of heels. Many of these would look flawless belted too.
Nothing wrong with getting a little springy before the warm weather hits, right? You can always throw on one of these chic winter coats that are finally on sale.
