Are you ready for part one of my recap of Aden’s birthday party? Even though his official birthday isn’t here until the 12th, he loves Halloween and dressing up so much that we knew he would have a ton of fun at a costume party. Ghostbusters made for an amazing family costume and jumping off point for our Halloween-inspired birthday bash, even though when the day came, Aden didn’t want to wear his ghost costume anymore. Kids, lol. But there was so much to do, he had a blast regardless…
We had yummy treats like candy apples and autumn pies, as well as other snacks catered by Bite Catering. My talented assistant Amy was behind the table accents… So impressive!
For spooky centerpieces, we had cauldrons filled with dry ice and water so the little ones could stand back and watch in amazement.
Sibling pic! So many of our family and friends were able to make it to the party, which is what really made the day so great.
Then it was time for Aden to open his gifts. Ariah wasn’t so sure about her hat at the beginning of the day, but she warmed up to it.
Party planning tip for those of you with little ones? Two words: Bubble. Machine.
Stay tuned for Part 2 of Aden’s party, where we recap the magic show and cake cutting! So fun.
Hey everyone! Did you see all the cute pictures I posted of Aden and Ariah at the pumpkin patch? These two have the most fun together and we all had a blast on our family outing. I haven’t posted an Aden’s Style guide for you all since I wrote about his activewear essentials back in July, so I thought it would be the perfect opportunity for a style post in honor of the fall season.
Aden LOVES his rain boots. He seriously never wants to take them off! Lately a white T and rain boots are his favorite outfit, but we managed to dress him up in some dark jeans and a jacket for the day. Believe me, it’s not always easy getting this one to pose for pictures… But so worth it in the end ;)
If you follow me on Instagram you might’ve seen me post about Aden’s latest summer project… Gardening! My favorite thing about the summer is all the time we get to spend just hanging out together outdoors. You don’t have to go on a road trip or vacation to soak up the sun – as you know from Aden and Ariah’s kiddie pool fun, it’s all about getting creative and finding new ways to enjoy the season together.
Aden is the shadow of Adam, guys. Adam is always keeping our gardens fresh and healthy, and Aden has started helping out – mimicking his every move. Kids this age just really want to be involved, and by welcoming their input and including them on household projects and hobbies, they learn from your expertise. They’re so impressionable and are soaking it all in. Plus, he’s getting good!
The goods. A family that gardens together stays together! We each have our own tools.
What’s your favorite low-key summer activity? And how do your little ones help out around the house?
Happy Father’s Day, everyone! I think you know how important family is to me, and the fact that I can count on Adam to be there for our two children no matter what is never, ever forgotten. I am always grateful for his love and support! We’re constantly making new memories together, like celebrating Easter together in Napa, our family trip to DC and most recently, our five-year wedding anniversary. Last week while taking photos for some upcoming blog posts (stay tuned!) I snuck away to record this special message to Adam…
Adam, thank you so much for being the amazing father you are. Happy Father’s Day!
Hi guys! Hope you all had a fantastic Easter. Mine couldn’t have been better! We were fortunate to be able to sneak away to Napa for a family weekend away. Time spent bonding with my loves always puts me in a happy mood.
Look who came out to join us! These two always have a good time when uncle Tavior is around.
He is Risen. Ariah in her Sunday best!
When you try to get little ones to look at the camera… Either you end up looking away or they do. Lol.
My loves. This girl is ALL smiles.
Absolutely loved celebrating Easter with everyone. We went to church and then it was off to an Easter egg hunt. Aden found so many! We’ll have to hide them better next year. ;)
Whew, what an exciting last few days! My family and I flew to Walt Disney World in Orlando for Disney Dreamers Academy with Steve Harvey and Essence Magazine, which is an awesome four days of inspiration to guide and fuel the dreams of 100 high school students. The students attend workshops, hear from a panel of speakers and get to network their hearts out. You may have heard me mention Disney Dreamers before, and you know from my trip to the White House, I am all for supporting students and encouraging them to follow their dreams! It was only natural that Adam and I bring our future leaders, Aden and Ariah, along for the ride…
This girl is a Disney girl!
Stopping for photo opps every chance we got…
Ariah was so happy to meet Princess Tiana.
Winnie the Pooh is one of our very faves.
Our thrill seeking little man.
…And my Minnie me!
Rockin’ the dots…
Guess who? Loni was also there, hosting a panel to inspire a great class of Dreamers… Can’t think of a better fit for the job! Of course we had to wrap up #disneydreamersacademy in style! So inspired by you everyday Loni.
Be sure to keep Disney Dreamers Academy on your radar – each year, US students aged 13-19 can apply! It’s a fantastic opportunity to gain invaluable insight for the future that I’m thrilled to support.
