Family Photo Album: Hawaii

Earlier this month my family and I took the most amazing vacation to Hawaii to attend a friend’s wedding. We spent a glorious and relaxing week on the island of Maui (I seriously did not want to come home). We stayed at the Marriott Wailea Beach Resort, which was absolutely lovely, and they took great care of us! The trip was just what I needed … A little rest, a little fun and lots of quality time spent together as a family!

Now that my children are a little older, it was especially fun for me to watch them run around and play, and just be together. Aden loves swimming, and he and my husband had an absolute blast together in the pool. The Marriott Wailea had one of the best family pools at a hotel that I have ever seen (now that I am a mom, hotel features like this are my new normal!). The hotel also had these awesome kids’ teepees you could rent that Aden and Ariah absolutely loved.

We made some really special memories on this trip. Their laughter playing in the pool was completely infectious, and I couldn’t wait until the next day when we would get to do it all over again. Life can get so busy, and this vacation reminded me of the importance of taking time off to be with my family without outside interruptions.

Every time I go to Hawaii I am reminded of what a special place it really is. I can’t wait until the next time we go back. I’m so excited to share with you guys the photos from my trip, I hope you enjoy them!

Let me know where your favorite places are to take a family vacation!

Real Talk: How Being A Mom Has Changed Me

family post

Mother’s Day is coming up this weekend, and it has me thinking a lot about how being a mom has changed me for the better. Every day with my children I work hard to try and be the best parent that I can, trying to anticipate their needs. However, each day they manage to flip the script on me (in a good way)! I learn patience and persistence from them on a daily basis. Most importantly though, they have shown me what unconditional love truly means.

My children have also taught me how to be present and in the moment, which is something that can be really hard to do when you are a working mom and have a lot of responsibility in your life. As a mom who can be a little OCD, my children have made me realize that it is okay to leave some dirty dishes in the sink for a while, or to not write that email right away, and to just live in the moment. I have learned that it is worth giving up a little control in my life, to be able to sit and watch a movie with them or just have time to bond.

Growing up, I had a mother who some would say, was a strict parent. Now that I am a parent, I can see that everything she did and how she parented, was done completely out love for her children. I grew up to love the person that I am, and to feel confident about myself, and that is because of my mom. She worked so hard to develop good character, strong faith and to instill a secure sense of self in her kids. There is no way that I would have been able to navigate a career in the spotlight, and remain true to my values and faith, had it not been for my mom. How she raised me has had such an incredible impact on who I am today, and now in turn, how I am raising my own children.

I have also been lucky enough to have children around the same time as my sister! Tia had her son before I had Aden, and she was always 100% honest with me about her experience with motherhood. She really helped prepare me for both the joys and the realities of what being a mom looked like. Most importantly, she taught me that as a mom, it is okay to keep pursuing your dreams while being a devoted parent. That was something that I was really struggling with —  I wasn’t sure that it was going to be possible to keep growing my career and have children. My sister has the most beautiful and special relationship with her son, and she really showed me that that as a mom, you can do both. I love sharing motherhood moments with her. Some days we just laugh because we will try and talk on the phone after a long day, and neither of us can even finish a thought because we are so tired! To be able to experience all the aspects of motherhood alongside my sister is one of the most amazing blessings.

I have only been a parent for four years, and I can’t imagine my life without my children! Parenting is both the hardest and most blissful job I have ever had. When you’re a mom, there is no such thing as a day off, and yes, exhaustion becomes your new normal. But you just figure it out!

Hats off to all the mommys out there!

Ariah’s First Ballet Lesson

Ariah's Ballet Lesson - Tamera Mowry

Last weekend my baby girl had her first ballet lesson. It was a huge milestone for Ariah and I wanted to share a few sweet moments from the day. So proud of her!

Ariah's Ballet Lesson - Tamera Mowry

We decided to put Ariah in dance because she seems to naturally enjoy it. If your child is really curious about something, getting them involved in it from a young age is a great way to help them learn and explore. I know a lot of adults who wish they’d explored their interests more when they were little ones, myself included, so I wanted to make sure Ariah had that experience if she wanted it.

She’d already gotten on her toes and twirled on her own, not to mention how much girl loves a cute tutu, so all signs pointed to ballet for Ariah’s first official dance lesson. Love how confident she is when trying new things!

Momma was by her side for support the entire time.

She’s a natural! Ariah had a blast learning the basics… And getting silly too.

Aden has his own extracurricular activities, like karate and soccer. I’m so excited to see both of my babies follow their passions as they get older and find what they truly enjoy doing. Life is so much more fun when you make time for what you love, and I want them to know that early on.

I’m one proud momma! Moms, when did you start enrolling your little ones in activities?

Our Family Trip to Mexico

Hey guys! Remember those gorgeous blue waters that I posted on my Instagram not too long ago? We took a family year-end trip to Cabo, Mexico during my break from filming – can you say relaxing – and I have been wanting to share the pics ever since!

It was our first trip out of the country with Ariah and we decided to head to San Jose Del Cabo and the JW Marriott Los Cabos Beach Resort & Spa. We wanted a resort with something to offer for all of us and still feel like Adam and I had some adult time. The beachfront location is where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific Ocean and our room had a gorgeous front row view. I got much needed spa time and it was amazing!

It was so nice to just hang out with Adam, Aden and Ariah. The chaos of our jobs and the busy holiday season just melted away. It’s so important to take time off when it’s needed, and I couldn’t have asked for better company.

Of course, even the most relaxing family trips still include tons of playtime. This was a big break for Aden after being in school this fall, so he needed the vacay too! He had a great time enjoying the hotel’s children programs and daycare.

Had to get some blog pics of course. This is a view from the JW’s lobby!

She loves to dance.

Love this pic Adam snapped… Sums up our trip perfectly. I had a chance to recharge and reflect on what this past year with my growing babies was like. Parenting is always a roller coaster, and getting a little time to unwind lets your brain refresh. In these moments, I couldn’t help but sit back in awe of all that God has blessed me with.

2017, I’m ready for ya!

Merry Christmas from the Housleys!

Hi guys! Did you do family Christmas cards this year? It can be a struggle to get the whole fam together to take a pic, but no matter how it turns out, I love having this to look back on! For our family Christmas card this year, we coordinated our outfits… Love seeing the kids all dressed up like this.

Merry Christmas from the Housleys! - Tamera Mowry Family

We hope you have a chance to celebrate the blessings 2016 has brought you and reflect on the meaning of Christmas with the people who have been by your side all year long. This is a time to take a step back from the hectic schedules our busy lives bring and surround ourselves with the people and experiences that are most important to us as we walk into a new year together. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas… from our family to yours.

Warmly,
Tamera, Adam, Aden, and Ariah

Aden’s 4th Birthday Costume Party: Part 2

Hope you enjoyed scrolling through all the photos from Part 1 of Aden’s 4th birthday bash. All of those treats were delicious! But the bubble machine wasn’t the only activity for the kids at the party (even though it was quite the hit), we also had a photo booth, face painting, and more:

One of the best parts of the day was when we all sat down to an incredible magic show from the magicians at Happily Ever Laughter. We had already had the treats, so it was time for the tricks…

Aden's 4th Birthday - Tamera MowryOf course Aden got to participate in the fun. It was a huge hit and these guys are so talented.

Aden's 4th Birthday - Tamera MowryLike I mentioned in Part 1, Aden wasn’t feeling his ghost costume when it came time to actually dress up for the party. But it finally made an appearance!
